Citizen's CAP – urban and rural food stories

Engaging citizens, youth and farmers in EU farm policies

Friends of the Earth groups in Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Hungary, Netherlands, Malta, and Spain are running running between June 2018 and May 2019. The project will also engage youth networks of organisations working on food and farming coordinated by Young Friends of the Earth Europe.

The project to increase overall awareness and engage citizens and farmers in debates on the importance of European farming policies to improve rural livelihoods, for sustainable food production and healthy eating.

Across Europe, hundreds of different activities are taking place as part of the project, including:

  • Citizens' food engagement: participatory events engaging citizens in detailed discussions about farming policies and the role of the EU
  • Farmer Kitchen events: bringing urban citizens and farmers together to bridge the urban-rural gap and increase understanding of EU agriculture policies and farming challenges.
  • Europe-wide "Good Food & Good Farming" awareness days on October 23/24 2018 - likely to be the biggest-ever set of farming outreach events in Europe

These will be supported by media and social media campaigns to raise awareness about building a better food and farming system in the EU.
