Friends of the Earth Spain

Friends of the Earth Spain has eight active local groups around Spain, with a central office in Madrid. The organisation puts pressure on national, regional and local governments and companies to protect the environment and natural resources.

The organisation promotes local awareness of both global and local environmental problems and provides opportunities to take direct action.
Friends of the Earth Spain campaigns on

  • Climate change
  • Community Power
  • Industrial agriculture and livestock
  • Sustainable agriculture and food sovereignty through European and international campaigns as well as local activities
  • Waste reduction by promoting composting and better waste management systems
  • Preventing overconsumption of natural resources
  • Economic justice

International Cooperation

Friends of the Earth Spain cooperates with countries in Central America by channeling Spanish and European funding towards sustainable development projects.
Environmental education plays an important role in Friends of the Earth Spain's activities, and they also work with the Spanish Youth Council.

Friends of the Earth Spain is one of the 23 member groups that are involved in the School of Sustainability project.
