Amigos de la Tierra Juventud La Rioja/YFoE Spain organised a training with rural youth in Muro de Aguas, in the north of Spain to better understand and connnect with youth in rural communities on environmental and social justice issues.
Youth participants learned the basic concepts of how rural communities are at risk of depopulation, and specifically the role of women farmers and livestock from an ecofeminist point of view.
The young people involved also learned communication and presentation skills, so they could gain experience and disseminate what they learned to their environments, since they came from different parts of Spain. Global issues such as climate change and food sovereignty were also been addressed.
Two experts working with rural and immigrant communities were also present at the meeting, meaning YFoE La Rioja now have a strong link to continue working with them in the future.
